Dunes activists plan new campaign
December 29, 2009
Citizens for a Vehicle Free Nipomo Dunes (CVFND) plan to mount a door-to-door campaign across the Nipomo Mesa in January.
CVFND spokesperson Dr. Nell Langford said that volunteers will be urging residents to attend the next county Health Commission meeting, currently scheduled for Monday Jan. 11, in the Board of Supervisors room at 6 p.m.
“We want people to ask the Health Commission to please schedule Dr. Larry Allen to speak at their February meeting,” said Langford. Allen, of the Air Pollution Control District, is the primary author of a three-year study that raises questions about the relationship between vehicles on the beach and air quality on the Mesa.
People interested in volunteering for the campaign, slated to begin Jan. 2, should call 773-4771.
