Pilots want Oceano airport kept open

February 25, 2010

Local pilots are contacting CalCoastNews, expressing concern over attempts to close down tiny–but they say critical–Oceano Airport.

The 59-acre general aviation facility apparently looms on the development radar. Pilots claim an unknown developer has retained the law firm of Chevalier, Allen & Lichman–“lawyers who specialize in shutting down small airports,” said one local pilot.

Attorney Steven M. Taber of the law firm is scheduled to speak at a public meeting on Wednesday, March 17, at 5 p.m. at the Rabobank Community Room, 899 Grand Avenue in Grover Beach. Taber will be discussing airport closures at the meeting, which is being hosted by controversial Los Osos developer Jeff Edwards.

The pilots declined to discuss their strategy about trying to keep the airport open, but said one pilot, “I’d hate to see them close the Oceano Airport. It’s such a special place and it’s a shame that we keep losing our general aviation airports.”

Jeff Edwards will cause havoc in poor little Oceano as he always has everywhere he’s been, I know, I live in Los Osos. Falsifying Geological reports, DUI’s, not paying his bills, bankruptcy and even wife stealing are in his past. Ever know a type A with smarts but just can’t play it straight? As a planning consultant his professional advice to prospective home buiders in Los Osos where a protected snail and rat dwell is Snarol and D-Con. Illegal grading is also suggested. The only thing good that will come from him “working” in Oceano is he won’t be “working” in Los Osos at that moment.

Consider these accusations the tipof the iceberg.

The best use of this Oceano Airport today is to now close it down and turn it into a storm water retention location/park with enlarging the Oceano lagoon and no longer allowing our treated sewage to be dumped into our Pacific Ocean!

The State of California should fund this combined with our Fish and Game and Regional Water Quality Control Board as seen in Caltrans action on You Tube pumping contaminated Storm Water to the Oceano Airport and our Pacific Ocean!

What about our most recent Salt Water Intrusion in our Wells in Oceano? This would help in stopping this for all of the Five Cities!

Local pilots are contacting CalCoastNews, expressing concern over attempts to close down tiny–but they say critical–Oceano Airport. Critical? To who? Can’t stand you weekend idiots that fly round and round the 5-cities area with those outdated, pile of junk things you call planes. I for one, will not miss you.
