Waterfield has the $$$ in Assembly race

New campaign fundraising documents reveal that Etta Waterfield continues to raise more money than her opponents in the race to replace Sam Blakeslee in the 33rd Assembly District. [Lompoc Record]
In 2009, Waterfield, a former Santa Maria planning commissioner, raised $194,652, including a $100,000 loan made to herself last June. Waterfield also reports eight donors making the maximum contribution allowed of $3,900 (including one from her mother-in-law, actress Jane Russell).
Waterfield is one of four candidates in the June Republican primary.
Meanwhile, San Luis Obispo financial planner Matt Kokkonen raised $180,682 in 2009, including a $100,000 loan to himself.
County Supervisor Katcho Achadjian reports raising $167,784 last year, and already spending nearly $50,000 on his campaign.
Campaign records for Fred Strong of Paso Robles have not been filed.
On the Democratic side, Santa Maria city councilwoman Hilda Zacarias is running uncontested. She currently has $50,256 in her campaign war chest.
The Republican primary will be held Tuesday, June 8.
