Oceano man arrested for sexual assault

Santa Maria police arrested an Oceano man on Friday for allegedly sexually assaulting three girls over several years.

Gildardo Maximino Mendoza, 48, is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14 and committing lewd and lascivious acts on the girls, now between the ages of 8 and 14.

Mendoza knew the girls and police said he confessed to molesting two of the children and having sex with the third.

Yes. Sexually assaulting anyone is illegal. Sexually assaulting someone who is a minor (younger than 18) puts an exponent on the “illegal.” In fact, an adult doing anything sexual with a minor is illegal because, legally, a minor cannot give consent to have sex.

Someone on the Trib blog called the jail and asked what the bail was. They said “no bail” that he was on immigration hold, so yes he is an illegal.
