Search launched for missing San Miguel man

UPDATE: The man missing from San Miguel was found safe at approximately 7 p.m. Monday on a remote hillside about a half mile from his residence.

San Luis Obispo County Sheriff deputies are searching for a 52-year-old San Miguel man who went for a walk Monday morning and did not return home.

Stephen Edward Bowman, who moved to San Miguel from Hawaii in February, left his home on the 9100 block of Crestview Way at about 9:30 a.m.

The sheriff’s search-and-rescue team, deputies and a department K9 unit are currently involved in the search.

Bowman is described as 5- feet 9 inches tall, weighing 195 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing blue denim shorts, a white T-shirt with an unknown logo, possibly a Miami Dolphins ball cap, flip-flops and possibly a black backpack.
