August 14, 2013
The San Luis Obispo Regional SWAT team will practice its school deployment tactics Wednesday during a daylong training exercise at Paso Robles High School.
From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, the SWAT team will conduct emergency training exercises on the high school campus with the assistance of school employees on the ground and a California Highway Patrol helicopter above. The drill is closed to the public and residents are encouraged to stay away from the area to remain safe.
The regional SWAT Team includes officers and command staff from the Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo, Pismo Beach, Morro Bay, Arroyo Grande, Grover Beach and Cal Poly police departments.
The Paso Robles Police Department says the campus training exercise is important to the security and safety of the communities.
Paso Robles High School begins its school year on August 27.
