District attorney plans to step down

San Luis Obispo County District Attorney Gerry Shea announced Monday that he will not run for reelection in 2014. [Tribune]
Shea, who has won three elections, has held the office for 15 and a half years.
In 1977, Shea became a deputy district attorney prosecuting felony and misdemeanor cases. Eight years later he was promoted to chief deputy district attorney.
The filing period for candidates for the office begins in February with a primary election to be held in June.
