A pickup truck was hauling alfalfa hay to deliver as cattle feed around 12:30 p.m. Saturday when flames sparked from trailer.
The driver stopped in a campus parking lot on Grand Avenue and unhitched the trailer. San Luis Obispo firefighters then responded, hauling the burning alfalfa out of the trailer and dousing it with water.
The cattle feed was ruined, and it laid soggy overnight in the Cal Poly lot.
No injuries occurred during the fire, and the cause is not known.
