Los Osos man dies while driving a bus
February 16, 2014
A 42-year-old Los Osos man died while driving an Amtrak bus on Friday morning.
The driver, Gordon Chadwick, apparently had a heart attack while driving the bus from Santa Maria to Hanford. Shortly after he left Santa Maria, the bus drifted north on the highway and began grinding against the railway.
That is when two women stepped forward and pulled the driver from his seat and stopped the bus on the Santa Maria River Bridge. They are credited with saving the lives of the other passengers.
Chadwick was pronounced dead at scene.
