Grover Beach police arrested a man early Friday morning for striking a woman in the head with the butt-end of a shotgun.

Johnny Luther Renfro, 65, struck a 48-year-old woman several times in the head and torso with a loaded shotgun, according to the Grover Beach Police Department. The victim suffered injuries and was transported to the Arroyo Grande Medical Center.

Officers responded to the reported assault at a trailer at 1168 Grand Avenue around 4:14 a.m. Renfro, believed to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol, refused to exit the trailer.

Arroyo Grande police, Pismo Beach police and San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s deputies then joined Grover Beach officers in surrounding the trailer. Renfro finally came out of the trailer around 5:57 a.m.

Officers arrested Renfro and booked him in San Luis Obispo County Jail. He is charged with assault with a deadly weapon, making criminal threats, false imprisonment and violent use of a firearm.

Now that would have been an epic, deserving, finale!

It takes a REAL man to do something like this. As he hit her with the butt of the gun it’s too bad the business end didn’t fire. He then, without question, would win a Darwin Award.
