October 16, 2014
A new media company, Dimes Media of Camarillo, announced it has entered into an agreement with Mapleton Communications to purchase five San Luis Obispo market radio stations.
The five stations are the first Dimes Media acquisition. Mapleton is attempting to sell KPYG 94.9 FM, KXTZ 95.3 FM, KXDZ 100.5 FM, KWWV 106.1 FM and KYNS 1340 AM.
Eric Fahnoe, president of Dimes Media, said he plans to move to San Luis Obispo County which will make the stations locally owned and operated.
“After significant research and investigation, we determined that the San Luis Obispo market represents a vibrant and diverse community with tremendous potential,” Fahnoe said. “We’re thrilled to be the flagship of the newly formed Dimes Media.
“Our family has owned and operated radio stations for three generations. I’m proud to lead this new company at an exciting and innovative time in our industry’s evolution.”
Fahnoe is the grandson of Richard Dimes Buckley, the founder of Buckley Broadcasting.
The sale is expected to close in 45 to 60 days.
