The California Highway Patrol has identified a 22-year-old man killed in a crash near Pozo as Arroyo Grande resident Tyler Johns.
Johns was a passenger in a Dodge truck driven by 18-year-old Arroyo Grande resident Paul Kravtsov, whom officers arrested for felony driving under the influence. The accident occurred shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday near the High Mountain Campground.
Kravtsov’s vehicle rolled more than 100 feet off Hi Mountain Lookout Road. It then took emergency personnel a few hours to reach the truck, and Johns had already died when they arrived.
On Friday afternoon, a wrong-way driver crash on Highway 101 killed two people. William Cole, a 71-year-old Nipomo man was one of the victims, and his wife, 70-year-old Paulette Cole suffered major injuries.
William Cole was driving a sedan that was hit head on by a Chevrolet Silverado pickup that entered the highway going north in the southbound lane, just south of the San Luis Obispo County line. A 57-year-old Nebraska man, William Dixon Jr., was the driver of the Silverado, and he also died.
