A 29-year-old Santa Maria man exposed himself to three elementary school girls in August, according to the Grover Beach Police Department. Officers arrested the man in Santa Maria on Thursday.
Roberto Mendoza-Macias allegedly exposed himself to the girls on Aug. 20 while the children were walking home from Grover Beach Elementary School. Grover Beach police identified a suspect in September and conducted a follow-up investigation.
On Thursday, Santa Maria police officers located Mendoza-Macias and arrested him. Santa Maria officers turned him over to Grover Beach police, and Mendoza-Macias was booked in San Luis Obispo County Jail on charges of indecent exposure and annoying or molesting a child.
Mendoza-Macias’ bail was set at $15,000. He is no longer in custody, according to the county sheriff’s office website.
Atascadero police, too, are investigating an indecent exposure case. A man driving a shiny black truck reportedly exposed himself to an 11-year-old girl on Tuesday while she was walking home from school.
Police have received four reports in the past few months of a man exposing himself or attempting to expose himself in Atascadero. The suspect is described as a white man in his 20s or 30s.
