Masturbating father arrested in Avila Beach
January 29, 2016
A 29-year-old Guadalupe man masturbated in front of his 2-year-old daughter, as well as a group women of women walking by in Avila Beach, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office. When a woman spotted him, he attempted to drive off with the passenger door open.
Around 10:25 a.m. Tuesday, a sheriff’s deputy responded to the report of a man masturbating in a parked car near the intersection of Avila Beach Drive and San Juan Street. Several women said they were walking on the Bob Jones Trail when one of them noticed a car parked adjacent to them on Avila Beach Drive with the passenger door open.
One of the women said she noticed an overweight man with no pants sitting in the driver’s seat and masturbating. The woman yelled, and the man began to drive away with the door still open.
A witness managed to recall part of the license plate number. Minutes later, a deputy spotted a car that matched the description of the vehicle and the license plate number.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop. As he approached the vehicle, he saw a small girl was in the backseat without a child safety seat.
Witnesses identified the suspect, whom the sheriff’s office has identified as Eric Manuel Salinas. Deputies arrested Salinas without incident. They charged him with child endangerment, annoying or molesting a child and indecent exposure.
The two-year-old girl was placed in the custody of Child Welfare Services.
Deputies booked Salinas in San Luis Obispo County Jail. He is no longer in custody, according to the sheriff’s office website.
