The senior center has been vandalized three times over the past month. On two separate occasions, vulgar graffiti was sprayed on the backside of the building.
Most recently, a vandal threw a rock through one of the center’s windows. The building is located at Santa Margarita Park.
Senior Center President John Wilkins said he can’t believe the incidents would happen in Santa Margarita, especially at a place like the senior center. The vandalism is costing the center time and money, and money is hard to come by for a small nonprofit, Wilkins said.
The nonprofit serves more than 100 seniors in the county. Volunteers at the senior center serve hot lunches daily.
Investigators request that anyone who has information about the vandalism contact the sheriff’s office.
