California reportedly leads the nation in hate groups

August 17, 2017

California has 79 active hate groups, more than any other state in the country, according to the civil rights advocacy organization the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).

The SPLC published a “hate map” showing there are 917 hate groups in the United States. California is trailed by Florida (63), Texas (55), New York (47) and Virginia (42), where racial tensions led to deadly clashes last week in Charlottesville.

Organizations placed on the hate map include groups that are anti-Islam, anti-immigrant, anti-LGBT, white supremacist and neo-Nazi, according to the SPLC. The hate map also includes black separatist groups.

California’s hate groups are heavily congregated in Southern California. There are also large clusters in the Bay Area and the Sacramento area, according to the SPLC.

The map shows that the only hate group on the Central Coast is the Santa Barbara-based Californians for Population Stabilization, which is an anti-immigrant group, according to the SPLC. The Santa Barbara nonprofit states on its website that it promotes policies that will stabilize the population of California, the United States and the world at levels that will preserve the environment and good quality of life for all.

One hate group is also listed as being located in Kern County. Vinland Clothing, which is based north of Bakersfield in Oildale, is a racist skinhead group, according to the SPLC.

The idea that California has mostly right wing hate groups is a joke! I do believe ANTIFA and BLM are here…

Region would tell a lot more.

Hate groups. The new talking points for the next six months. What a joke the press has become.

This is no surprise as Calif. government wants to be on top no matter if it’s good or bad. Highest tax’s,most debt, worst roads, schools and on and on. I’m sure if you took a real poll of the people they would also say # 1 worst government. Congrats Calif. you are the king of the S!!! Hole mountain. Don’t forget Calif. also wants to be the first of the states to form their own country.

“Vinland Clothing” appears to be a t-shirt shop.

Does that include the HATE groups that immediately judge those that do not agree with them to be: homophobes, islamophobes, misogynists, racists, sexists, etc?

I would expect no less considering that California is the capital of liberalism, which is comprised of very angry hate filled people. Am i now part of a hate group?

SPLC is not the most credible source for a list of true “hate” groups. Several of those on their list are those that stand for traditional values and do so without vitriol or violence toward anyone. A better caption for their list would be “Groups that Do Not March to Our Liberal Tune.’

Shouldn’t it since it leads the nation in state population?

What’s a group? Two or more? Five?
