Man allegedly tortured at SLO County Jail, kills himself

A 39-year-old man who was allegedly hogtied, tormented, stripped naked, berated and belittled by staffers at the San Luis Obispo County Jail earlier this year killed himself Sunday morning. [Cal Coast Times]

Before he shot himself, Jeremiah Mobley said he was afraid of law enforcement officers. Mobley was worried that deputies with the SLO County Sheriff’s Department were going to use his blood to set him up for a crime, his mother Terrie Spencer said.

On Saturday night, Mobley was watching an Oregon State football game at Spencer’s apartment in Lodi when she left the room. Shortly after 7 p.m., Spencer returned to the den to find Mobley with a gun to his head and a knife pointed at his heart.

It is obvious your empathy abounds.


If you would have read the story, I don’t believe they ever said it was the Sheriff’s fault.


I think the take away is that an unbalanced man was taken into custody–because he requested help with his mental health issues- and was systematically abused at the hands of the Sheriff dept.


I don’t think that is in dispute by anyone. Later, still suffering from mental illness he decides to kill himself.


The care from the Sheriff’s dept. certainly did not help this young man–it most likely made his condition worse.


I appreciate Cal Coast for keeping us informed about the fate of this individual. Reporter’s should follow up on these things.

Hogtied stripped naked and berated, just a normal day in Parkinson’s house of horrors. Staff filled with Sadists. The kill rate keeps rising. Business as usual.

I am not familiar with this guy or his jail incident, but it sounds like he was paranoid and had mental health issues. I hope he is at peace now.
