Hundreds of people protest in Paso Robles against Newsom’s orders

Protest in Paso Robles

The day after Gov. Gavin Newsom announced plans to shutter all California beaches, which he later amended to only beaches in Orange County, about 500 people gathered in Paso Robles to protest the state’s ongoing shelter at home order.

Amanda Hawkins, an organizer of the “Stand for Freedom Rally” in Paso Robles, said her group was utilizing their constitutional right to peaceful assembly. Many of Friday’s protestors were members of the Republican Party.

Protestors argued it was time to allow businesses to reopen, and to let people work and socialize with family and friends. Speakers asked why are we quarantining the healthy, instead of those who are sick?

Throughout the state, thousands gathered at dozens of rallies, the largest in Sacramento and Huntington Beach.

While thousands protested in Huntington Beach, others flocked to the coast line, ignoring signs saying the beach was closed. Multiple law enforcement agencies in Orange County announced they were not going to arrest people who violated Newsom’s stay at home or beach closure orders.

Earlier this week, Newsom said he was just weeks away from stage two of his four phase plan. Following outrage by some and support from others, Newsom said stage two could begin in days, depending on how the public conforms to his current orders.

And the search for intelligent life on planet Earth continues without success. I used to be in favor of space exploration to prepare humanity for eventual migration to other planets in our beautiful Universe, but after witnessing the idiocy, mindlessness, irresponsibility and cruelty of humanity (especially our useless President and the clueless and destructive Congress) over the past 100 years, I now recognize that we humans are parasites that consume everything without any care for our future, the environment or any living things. It is best for our Milky Way Galaxy and Universe that the short reign of humanity ends here on Earth, ASAP, and that our glorious Sun’s death throws destroys Earth and all of humanity without contaminating the Cosmos. Anti-virus protestors are just another nail in humanity’s coffin. Sad but very true. I would be more than happy to send all the protestors to planet Mars, one way, today, with no supplies, and have them demonstrate their worth as humans in being colonists who perish while grumbling and blaming everyone for their own pathetic failings. Have a nice day!

Just curious…what makes you so righteous?

Thank you! Thank you for proving that these people— the ones who want to work for their keep and feed their own families, who do not want to be a burden on society, who do not live in constant fear of death, who believe there are greater things on Earth than mere survival— are not doing this because they hate their neighbors. It is an entirely different kind of person altogether who wishes mass destruction on mankind. Excellent example!

200 people just risked infection to 30 thousand. Money vs life huh. There have been great dictators whom take this stance. WW2 rings a bell. Let them eat cake.

“Let them eat cake” says the privileged & employed (per another of your comments) Marie Antoinette to the poor peasants with no income protesting in the park.

We make a choice every morning when we rise. It appears 500 people chose to go out and show and voice their concern for a tough situation we all are dealing with. The last time I looked, the Constitution says they have that right. I can promise you there were Republicans, Democrats, and Independents gathered there. The majority of us are effected by this government induced shut down. Many are hurting and struggling financially to make ends meet. Many have reached or passed their financial limit the last six weeks. To comment in the reporting that “Many of Friday’s protestor’s were from the Republican Party” is unneeded. I also find it interesting that it is referred to as a “protest.” Why is it when such groups as “Antifa” and “The Women’s March” gather, it’s referred to as a “movement”? Often those “movements” involve hate speech, violence and destruction of private property. To be fair going forward it should be stated “That many who attended these “movements” were from the Democrat and Socialist Party”. Just a thought.

They were breaking international protocol during a pandemic to voice opinions we all feel looking like total Alt Right Loonies making Paso look, really really bad. But we already look bad as it is. I hope and plan to contact and trace many of these people and their employers and let them know what theyre doing. Some of these folks might be parents with college students, their universities will find out too. Wowzers, maybe 1/1000 were not Republican, but I doubt it. Probably less, much less.

Since when was the U.S. governed by international protocol? Where was the international protocol when China and the WHO lied to the rest of the world about this virus? Talk about looking really, really bad would be a severe understatement. If both would of been truthful, most of the precious lives world wide would not have been lost and we wouldn’t be having this banter. You hope to, and plan to contact, trace, and let their employers know about those who attended the rally? Really? Talking about action of the Alt Right. Wasn’t there someone in Germany during WWII that did something very similar. We defeated it once, we might have to do it again.

You go Kevin! I remember a similar story during World War II. I remember a girl named Anne Frank and how her whole family was captured by the gestapo after a neighbor ratted them out! Nobody likes a rat, Kevin!

Viral infections are terrified of demonstrations.

Stage two could begin in days, depending on how the public conforms to current orders. Think about this. If we little children are good we get to go to stage two. What an ahole!

AND MANY protestors were Democrats and Independents… let’s not sound like the Trib

Bloody unlikely….

Absolutely agreed Iron, this is an absolutely stereotypical Alt Right extremists rally and practically a f you to everyone, like terrorism.

It’s sad for Paso; having so many cases and seeing so many above 55 without masks on, and Andy cheering them on Alex Jones style. Just missing the Klan and anti vaxxers there. See John H without a mask too, Paso council member? What the heck is wrong with Paso…I live here…near downtown…and have a 3 year old and my elderly family live close by….

So what. I live here too. The fact that you have a 3 year old and elderly relatives means absolutely nothing. This is not about YOU. This is about OUR economy and our right to live and make a living so we can maintain a decent place to live. Lots of us have kids and elderly relatives. Do you want to raise your 3 year old in a crime infested town, on food stamps with little to no income? How will you plan on feeding your 3 year old when there is a shortage of food? And where will you get your money to provide for this 3 year old. Think about it, because the government money tree will run out. Then what?

I’m a medical professional taking care of people whom get sick, I’m a first responder. And I value life over money, and why not tax billionaires a bit more to support the people that make them rich and give them a gov to practice free market huh?, vs the government. Let Darwin do what it needs to for those people exercising their rights in a global pandemic the likes of WW2 in loss of life. This protest to say what everyone already feels RISKED thousands of lives. Just like people with bumper stickers having to tell the whole world how they feel, no one cares. It’s a Pandemic. Also, Paso is a dump with a high poverty count, crooked politics, and rich people, and terrible roads and social services. And way to many politically insane geriatrics it seems. So the photo shows

Kevin, I live with a medical professional- and guess what- they’re not working either. You should know that. All of the local hospitals are EMPTY. Why? Because they never had the patients that the “models” were projecting. So, add healthcare workers to the unemployment line. Yes, frontline workers in the unemployment line. FACT! Look, it’s pretty simple. With life there are risks. We still have to keep working! If we are so scared about everything that comes our way then no one could ever leave the house. I don’t want Coronavirus. But I want to live and work! I don’t want to be in a car accident either but I keep driving. I’m a rebel like that. Since you are so worried about this, you should put your mask on, even though it’s protection is still debatable, go to the scary store, buy all the toilet paper, hand sanitizer, pasta and rice you can fit in your cart. Go home and bunker down. Stay there until it’s safe to come out. We’ll take it from here.

If they want it so bad let them have it I guess? Doesn’t Paso have the most confirmed cases?

Yes, yes they do, and look at all the geriatrics in these photos. Lacking alot of ethnic, and political diversity too.

I wonder where all the so-called liberal tolerance is in this comment. I do see an attack on your fellow seasoned citizens. I also see a disturbing comment on your fellow citizens with race or ethnic identity as your judging filter. Again, where is the tolerance? There is only one race, the human race. How can you judge the political diversity from these photos? Do you know all of them personally? I really see this comment as some one blinded by their own ideology with no tolerance or inclusiveness, and a narrow view of diversity that doesn’t fit their political slant.

Straight out of the DNC talking points…LOL

“Many of Friday’s protestors were members of the Republican Party.”

I hope they drank their bleach this morning and have their UV lights inserted.

Yeah!! Stupid virus!! Lol

Still getting your paycheck from the government?….yeah, I thought so!

Thank Ca and our Govorner for providing some of the best Covid actions taken and highest unemployment pay in the USA as the most populated, successful state. People love to hate for haters sake, and they love to bite the hand they feeds.

I’m sorry but the state doesn’t feed me. I know it hard to believe but I feed myself. Like most people we need to work.
