Lompoc police officers arrested a man on Saturday afternoon after he allegedly attempted to burn his father alive, according to police.

After receiving a call that 40-year-old Joe García Jr. was beating his father at a home on the 200 block of North D Street, officers arrived at the home, but Joe García Jr. refused to open the door. Officers then forced the door open and discovered the father on fire.

Officers placed the father on the ground and extinguished the fire.

Paramedics airlifted the father, who was suffering from third-degree burns, to Cottage hospital in Santa Barbara and later to a burn center.

Officers arrested Joe García Jr. and booked him in the Santa Barbara County Jail on charges of attempted murder, false imprisonment, criminal threats, assault with a deadly weapon, mayhem, elder abuse and animal cruelty. Further information about the incident is not available at this time.

They should add arson to the list of charges. When released in California and if he stayed in California he would have to register as an arsonist …At least he would be trackable in some sense while living in California .None of the other charges require registration with LE upon release and more than likely he will be sentenced to very little imprisonment

Lompoc, “ little Stockton “

Said it before and I’ll say it again – the Central Coast is becoming the Florida of California.

More like the cities of Chicago, Baltimore, New York, Oakland, Houston, and many others where violent crime is rampant. As for the state of Florida, what is the connection?

Florida, where criminals are still held accountable, California, not so much.

Facts sometimes get in the way of …commonsense….

Around the country, murder rates in many Republican-controlled states and cities were well above the national average. According to Third Way’s report “The Red State Murder Problem”:

“Tulsa (19.64) and Oklahoma City (11.16) have Republican mayors in a Republican state and have murder rates that dwarf that of Los Angeles (6.74).”

In Kentucky, “Lexington’s Republican mayor saw record homicides in 2020 and 2021, with a murder rate (10.61) nearly twice that of New York City (5.94).

“Bakersfield (11.91) and Fresno (14.09) each have Republican mayors and murder rates far higher than either San Francisco (5.6) or Los Angeles (6.74).”

Of the top six states with the highest jump in murder rate from 2019 to 2020—and eight of the top ten—were dyed-in-the-wool “red” bastions like Mississippi, Louisiana, and Tennessee.

This is so sad. It sickens me. What happened to loving and honoring you mother and father? Just another horrific example and tragic story of the times we’re in.

Yeah….. and to think that this guy did that to his father exactly one week before Fathers Day…… Sick. Very, very sick.
