Paso Robles demonstrators protest mass deportations

February 4, 2025

By KAREN VELIE

More than 200 demonstrators lined Niblick Road near Spring Street in Paso Robles on Monday afternoon in support of a “Day Without Immigrants,”a nationwide movement protesting President Donald Trump’s mass deportation plan.

The bulk of the protestors appeared to be school age Hispanics. They waved the Flag of Mexico and held up signs touting the importance of migrants in the workforce.

Shortly after federal agents raided an apartment on Creston Road in Paso Robles on Jan. 29, inaccurate information spread through the immigrant community that it was an ICE raid. Since then, some members of the migrant community are worried their friends or family members could be deported.

With Trump’s Administration ramping up arrests of criminal and undocumented immigrants, misinformation regarding ICE raids is rampant in the community and through the media.

How are illegals not paying taxes good for the economy?

…undocumented immigrants contribute $8.5 billion in California taxes alone. Which, you, benefit from.

Freeloaders mooching off American taxpayers need to be deported to the foreign country that thet love so much.

What part of “Illegal Aliens” being “Law-Breaking Criminals” do these morons fail to understand?

Undocumented immigrants contributed up to 95 billion towards taxes in 2022… Most pay their share even though “morons” like yourself fight and degrade them every step of the way. Btw the multi billion dollar corporation Amazon paid ZERO TAXES last year. Who are you really mad at?

I find it very confusing to be waving the flag of the country you don’t want to be deported back to.

They wave the flag so we know where to send them.

Or burning the flag of the country you want to move too, tells us everything we need to know about these people.

Is this a free country or not?

Look I’m all for securing our border, and if the government says no more immigration too, that’s fine. But kicking mass amounts of people out that only beat our previous system? Nah; I just don’t like it. Gross, loser behavior.

Has that happened? Is that happening?

The people who beat the system under the previous administration are still guilty of entering our country illegally and should be prosecuted.

I’m glad that Trump has opened up a debate on the history and tradition of the 14th Amendment.

Same people that enjoy a huge variety of fruit for cheap and brag about having “authentic” Mexican food in town are the same people down-voting my comment. Hypocrites.

Nothing bolsters your argument to stay in one country more than waving the flag of another country.

America is a free country, they have a right to fly whatever flag they choose. Have you ever been to Mexico? They also fly the American flag.

Yes, I have been to Mexico, and I did not see one American flag being flown there. What I saw were soldiers with machine guns at many of the places I went to visit. The Basilica de Guadalupe, at every government building, near the beaches etc. nearly everywhere. I am not at the border trying to migrate there. In fact I will never go back there again. If they love their home country so much why don’t they just go back. If they are here illegally, what part of illegal do you not understand. My grandparents immigrated here from Japan but I don’t fly the Japanese flag. In fact I fly the American flag on my house. But I do love sushi!

Now they know where to focus their efforts…keep it up.

I’d feel more sympathy for them if they were all holding American flags.

They weren’t protesting on behalf of the American people.

Isn’t the goal to be one of the American people?

So…people are protesting because they believe that they should be allowed to stay in the United States illegally?

So, can I go stay inside their home, and if they say I can’t stay there, I should stand inside their home and hold a big sign demanding that I be allowed to stay inside their home, no matter what the law says?

Great…please give me a list of addresses, and I’ll go demand that they allow me to stay there along with some other people I find along the way?

You are just a hateful racist, I hope you don’t eat the produce these illegals pick or drink the wine of the grapes they harvest, eat at the restaurants they wash fishes at, sleep in hotels they clean. You think they shouldn’t be here, why, you going to get your a** up at 4 am to work the fields in the extreme heat or freezing cold? They committed an infraction by coming here to improve their lives, but you probably voted in a felon as president, how’s that ok?

Seems like the racist statements, Mexicans work the fields, gut fish and clean shitty hotels was made by you. I’m sure Mexican Americans have performed heart surgery, built bridges, started businesses. Aren’t you the racist?

You are absolutely right!!

Why are you stereotyping Mexicans as being nothing but farm workers, restaurant workers and fish washers? I have many Mexican friends and they are social workers, health care providers. RN’s, Psych Techs, successful business owners, law enforcement officers etc. Shame on you for being a stereotyping racist. Are you going to say that because I am of east Asian descent I probably work in a laundry?

If these folks protested Mexican cartels and Mexican government corruption, I may take them seriously.

They did, by leaving a country where their lives were in danger.

Not one single immigrant protested against Mexican drug cartels or Mexican government corruption!!! YOU’RE WRONG. They pay the cartels to help them get accross our border.
