U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents plan to attend Cal Poly’s Career Fair on Oct. 22 and 23 as part of the agency’s current recruiting efforts. More than 150 employers plan to participate in the annual job fair. [Mustang News]

Customs and Border Protection is charged with keeping terrorists and their weapons out of the United States while facilitating lawful international travel and trade. The agency employs more than 60,000 people.

While separate from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the two agencies at times work together.

There are concerns that students will be upset over having immigration enforcement on campus. Cal Poly Pomona postponed its annual job fair in August after critics voiced concerns that Customs and Border Protection recruiters would be on campus.

“recruiting at Cal Polu”, come on Cal Coast News, it’s one thing when a poster makes a spelling mistake it’s another when the publisher does, and even more so in the headline and when simple proofreading should have caught it, Cal Poly not Polu.

Not a fan of Trump, what ICE is doing, etc. However, CBP has a right to be at a job fair. If you don’t like them, then don’t apply for a job with them.

What’s wrong here? Liberals generally love government jobs. The pay, the benefits, the SECURITY!

Is Cal Polu the Hawaiian campus? Because the kids could be upset there, too.

So, CBP is recruiting on campus. Again…so? There are myriad other government bodies recruiting on campus, why must CBP be singled out? Because of “feelings”? Well guess what kids, your “feelings” are gonna get hurt many, many times over your lifetime. The world is not padded on every corner, and most people don’t know who you are, and don’t care to know who you are.

Who was the head cheerleader in 1974? Nobody knows or cares.

Who was the star quarterback in 2001? Nobody knows or cares.

Who was Valedictorian 4 years ago? Nobody knows or cares.

See? Get over yourself, and suck up some reality. Maybe, just maybe, if you have a good Major that translates into a marketable career, you could work for CBP….and be somebody.

Be more profitable than many of the degrees those students are going into debt to receive.

Two recruiters with pamphlets behind a vendor table is no big deal. They can join the Army, etc. and the students will deal with it.

Showing up with a tactical response team is another. Context matters.

We will see.

Entry-level Border Patrol Agents, the salary ranges from $49,739 to $89,518 annually, with full benefits. Not a bad starting place.
