Man dies in head on collision near Los Osos

One man died and several other people were injured Wednesday night in a head-on collision between a sedan and a Regional Transit Authority bus on South Bay Boulevard between Los Osos and Morro Bay.
A man in his 60s was driving the Mercedes northbound at about 9:10 p.m. when witnesses said it started to drift into the other lane and collided with the bus. The bus, carrying three passengers and a bus driver, went off the road and down an embankment.
Medical personnel transported the bus driver to the hospital where he was released a few hours later. Several of the passengers walked away from the accident.
California Highway Patrol officials are investigating whether the driver of the sedan suffered a medical emergency or was impaired by drugs or alcohol.
