Wrong way DUI driver collides with Greyhound bus

August 17, 2012

Five people were injured on U.S. Highway 101 in Atascadero in a crash that officers say was caused by a drunk driver going the wrong way on the freeway early Friday morning.

The driver of a grey Honda was headed north on the southbound lane of the highway when he ran head on into a Greyhound bus carrying about 30 passengers between the San Anselmo and Traffic Way exits at about 3:30 a.m. California Highway Patrol officers shut down one lane of the highway which they plan to reopen at about 7:30 a.m.

Four of the injured passengers were transported to the hospital, treated for their injuries and released.

Emergency personnel transported the driver, who was suffering from major injuries, to a local hospital. Officers then arrested the man at the hospital for felony driving under the influence.

Apparently the driver of the Honda, David Camporverde, 22, of Paso Robles, has had alcohol related

incidents in the past. I know nothing more about David than that, howevert, there is not much doubt in myprofessional “guestimation” that this chap is in need of major treatment for the brain disease of

addiction. Unfortunately all he’s liable to get is a major jail term and no treatment, which just about

guarantees recidivism. Once addiction has reached a certain stage, the individual has lost control over there ability to control their substance use or the amount used. This has absolutely nothing to do with thesubstance, but has everything to do with impairment of the dopamine-reward system in the brain. It is

not caused by poor morals, lack of will power, demons or any non-natural etiology. Addiction cannot at the current time be cured, it is considered a chronic condition, however it can be put into remission with treatment. Without Treatment, buy o body bag and keep it handy.

If he gets a jail term, he will get sober. Isn’t that the first step in treatment?

Interesting tidbit. I just learned that one of David’s good friends was the kid that killed himself by driving drunk and wrapping his car around a tree last week in Templeton. One would think that you would change your behavior after seeing your friend die from it a few day’s prior. What was he thinking? This kid will be paying for this mistake for many years. He probally will never learn.Too bad he is too stupid and caused harm to others.

Hmmm …Atascadero….drunk driver…going the wrong way. Trifecta !

Why is this unsurprising ?

Well, subsequent to this fools DUI charge, he will NOT be going to the glorious Christian Heaven!

“Envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Galatians 5:21)

I am sorry, and I am sure you are too, that those who entertain the debauchery of orgies are not going to heaven as well. But, it’s the inspired word of our form of God that stated this, therefore, damn it, we must follow ALL of the bible to the letter.

Yes, don’t worry, I am looking for biblical loop holes regarding the orgy issue.

I know that I shouldn’t say this but I can’t help myself………

Go ahead and have those orgies Ted. ‘Currently’ you’re probably damned anyway.

Cindy,

If you know your biblical history, *cough*, then as a woman, consider yourself very lucky that the Gospel of Thomas wasn’t added to the Judeo-Christian bible! For many obvious reasons, it was excluded. Hmmmm.

One reason being, that Jesus specifically states that women cannot get into Heaven. Is it any surprise why this Gospel was left out? Here’s a passage from it: Simon Peter said to them, “Make Mary leave us, for females don’t deserve life.” Jesus said, “Look, I will guide her to make her male, so that she too may become a living spirit resembling you males. For every female who makes herself male will enter the domain of Heaven.” (Thomas 114)

Isn’t that great? Women have to be guided to make themselves men before they can get access to heaven! The Gospel of Thomas is no more, or no less, of a Gospel of the inspired word of the Hebrew-Christian God, as the ones that were included within the bible.

Before you take yourself away from your biblical womanly duties for the man, don’t try and refute the biblical history above in vain, just follow the bible’s current books and remain SILENT!

“Let the women learn is silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, not to usurp authority over the man, BUT TO BE IN SILENCE.” (Timothy 2:11-12 )

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:28

Mikayla,

You’re only one with Christ Jesus if you believe in His Father and Him.

But, if your family members and/or friends try and persuade you to seek another God concept, ie; Catholicism, Islam, Hebrew, etc., then your former Christian brethren are to kill you, and your blood shall be upon you. Preferably, you’re to be stoned to death. (Deuteronomy 13: 6-10)

Oh Ted, Ted, Teddy boy, you should know that God inspired the compilation of the books that were to be included in the Bible. Why does a man who proclaims so much knowledge not know this simple Christian doctrine?

Here is the TRUTH : The Thomas that you speak of was so, so, so very jealous of the beloved Mary that he wrote such blasphemies against all women. If you’re going to go outside the Bible, then you must be aware that Jesus was closer to Mary than any of his other apostles.

may have been his wife.

Cindy my dear,

For your further biblical training, the Gospel of Thomas was left out because of the reasons that I mentioned, along with this book being totally anti-marriage, as Paul states so often as well in the NT. Furthermore, it also put Jesus in a very bad light. The NT does that enough, but the Gospel of Thomas was worse!

Since we agree that the Hebrew-Christian God inspired the compilation of books that were included in the bible, then as a bible 2nd class woman, why don’t you follow said inspired word??!!!

What part of the “inspired compilation” in 2 Timothy below don’t you understand?

“Let the women learn is silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, not to usurp authority over the man, BUT TO BE IN SILENCE.” (Timothy 2:11-12 )

Biblical factoid, you as a woman, are to remain SILENT and not usurp the authority over the man, that’s me! Get it? Once again, you show insolence to God’s word!

my big problem with the Bible is the simple fact that men wrote it! Men who were by no means free from envy, jealousy, ambition etc. So often we hear ” God told me ” to do this or that, and sometimes people have killed because “God ” told them to.

One only needs to look at history to see how religion has been used to control people and to aide in the conquest of the americas by the catholic church and by Islam in it’s past attempt to rule the world.

So as far as “God inspired”, anyone can claim that “God told me”, and do we blindly accept that? I do not. My belief is that the “Real God” is far different from the biblical ” God”

Hey Ted,

Keep me posted on the orgy issue…

eradicate,

I am trying to use the old pseudo-christian ruse of spin doctoring passages away from their actual intent to save face on what they really said. It’s not correct to do so, but I feel for this item only, it is worth a try.

Will keep you posted……

WOW, he couldn’t have drove up the south bound exit ramp at Traffic way because that ramp is close with construction. He must have got confused over on Morro Road and drove up the south bound off ramp over there which would have place him heading north. That means he made it about a mile or two before he was between Traffic way and San Anselmo. One thing for certain, the guy doesn’t come from A-Town and unlike Paso Robles where it’s easy to accidentally (in some area’s) drive up a 101 off ramp, that isn’t the case in A-Town. You would definitely have to be drunk to do that here.

I hope all the innocent passengers and driver of the bus recover from this. I cannot imagine the fright these people experienced.

danika,

Huh? A Greyhound bus verse a small Honda? It’ s like the U.S.S. Nimitz aircraft carrier hitting a fishing trawler! The only fright the passengers should have experienced is, are they going to be able to gather enough body parts to make a positive identification!

TS,

Some people on the bus were injured. Many had to have witnessed and heard the crash. I imagine the bus driver tried to swerve suddenly. I would be replaying this over and over in my mind if I had experienced it. It is recovery of emotional and mental trauma I am referring to as well as any physcal injuries.

LIsten, if you’re riding the bus to begin with, more than likely you lost a bet, or you’re drunk and you really don’t know in what you’re doing. One has to be brave when riding a Grey Dog to begin with, therefore, that was probably a tough crowd riding that Bus that morning, so I wouldn’t worry about them replaying the incident anytime soon.

If I was the driver, I would not swerve in any way whatsoever to save my passengers from possible injury. Why? Because I am driving a very large BUS, and the opponent is driving a small HONDA. You shouldn’t bring a small car to a BUS accident!

People injured? They are “ambulance chasers” that are looking for a payday so they can take the train next time.

Am I to understand that you are judging these injured passengers merely because they are taking the bus? I’m sure you know what the Bible says about that kind of behavior.

Wow Ted not very christian like. I didnt realize using a bus makes you less of a human being. Kind of passing judgment a little dont you think?

Makayla and simplelife,

Yes, my fellow earthly passengers, I am following the direct word of the inspired Hebrew-Christian God in judging these bus riders, praise!

Remember the Lord Jesus Christ commanded, “Judge righteous judgment” (John 7:24). He told a man, “Thou hast rightly judged” (Luke 7:43). Notwithstanding, the most important judging verse is when Jesus told others; “Why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?” (Luke 12:57).

If Jesus states that it’s okay to judge in the passages shown above, then guess what? Who am I to say that Jesus was wrong when He condoned the judgment examples shown?

Do the simple math, you judge things everyday. Tell your stance to a jury of your peers in a court room setting! Get it? Sure you do.

Without knowing otherwise, I will not bear false witness against them.

Mikayla,

You don’t have to know, or bear anything because the scriptures relating to this point in question are quite clear.

You’re welcome.

Last time I judged a few homeless people, you said I was half way to hell and would pray for me. I smell a hypocrite.

Russ J,

If I did that to you, then yes, I am a hypocrite. But, being a hypocrite comes with the territory of being a Christian. These two entities are one-in-the-same of being a Christian and there is no way out of this conundrum if one reads ALL of the bible.

Do not fret, I will still pray for you.

According to your understanding of the Scripture,it’s okay to judge others without knowing the whole story or circumstance?

I hope the drunk has insurance. I imagine the taxpayers will have to pay to keep this menace alive

I hope his insurance was more than the State minimum for bodily injury of $15,000 per person / $30,000 per accident. That means all persons have to share that $30,000 for their injuries.

This is a good example of why the State needs to increase the minimum requirements for auto insurance bodily injury coverage. You may feel this doesn’t happen all that often but the majority of accidents involve more than just the driver of each vehicle.
