Machete wielding burglar arrested

Atascadero Police arrested a man suspected of donning camouflage clothing and carrying a machete while he burglarized a home in Templeton on Nov. 2.

Following up on reports of the machete wielding man in Templeton, deputies responded and discovered a burglary had taken place at the location. San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s deputies and K9 units, a California Highway Patrol helicopter and Atascadero Police Officers were involved in the search for the suspect.

Police found Jeffrey Lee Wilson, 41, in the riverbed on the West side of Highway 101 in Atascadero on Sunday. He was armed with a hunting knife but dropped it after officers ordered him to do so.

Atascadero Police arrested Wilson for being under the influence of a controlled substance while the District Attorney’s Office determines if burglary charges should be filed.
