Reported gunshot spurs Paso Robles school lockdown

A Paso Robles elementary school locked down Thursday morning after police received a report of a gunshot heard in the area.
Paso Robles police officers arrived at Bauer-Speck Elementary School shortly after receiving the report of a gunshot, and a California Highway Patrol helicopter flew overhead. But, law enforcement found no evidence that anyone discharged a firearm near the campus, according to the Paso Robles Police Department.
School district staff initiated the lockdown of the elementary school after the police received the report around 11:36 a.m. Fifteen minutes later, the district lifted the lockdown.
Just one day prior, Bauer-Speck Elementary School held lockdown training.
Earlier Thursday, a high school student in Taft fired shots at other students, wounding one, ten minutes after the teachers announced new procedures in the case of a school shooting.
KCOY reports that Thursday afternoon a second Paso Robles school entered lockdown after a man fled police onto the grounds of Winifred Pifer Elementary after not stopping for a traffic violation. The lockdown occurred just after 3 p.m. when most students were not present and lasted less than ten minutes.
