Pozo Saloon Stampede on Sunday April 25th

April 29, 2010

Merle Haggard

Performing at the Pozo Saloon is somewhat of a rite of passage in the country music world; singers such as Willie Nelson, Dwight Yoakam and the Charlie Daniels Band have played there.

Merle Haggard, dressed casually in a brown T-shirt, boots, comfortable jeans and a cowboy hat, wooed the crowd with timeless songs such as “Okie from Muskogee.” Billy Carrington, Phil Vassar, The Devil Makes Three, Miss Willie Brown and Jade Jackson took turns performing for the cheering crowd from noon until after 7 p.m.

If you’ve never been to a concert at the Pozo Saloon, you’re immediately struck by how massive the venue is and the beauty of the small rural community. The concert was packed with a wide variety of fans, ranging from young children to the elderly and every walk of life in between.
