Summer Concert in Arroyo Grande, event photos

Music, roses and a blue and white bandstand set the tone for a Sunday afternoon as old-fashioned and summery as a glass of homemade lemonade. Bordered by blocks of vintage homes and white picket fences, fragrant with lavender and fresh-mown grass, the free Summer Concert Series in old town Arroyo Grande is almost like a step back in time.
That step-back feeling was furthered this weekend by the music. Bluegrass band Little Black Train played first, combining turn-of-the-century gospel, blues and Celtic dance tunes with newly-crafted lyrics and melodies Celtic band Sligo Rags followed, a lively whirl of Irish folk and toe-tapping bluegrass banjo.
Snacks included Doc Burnstein’s ice cream and hot dogs fresh-grilled by Mayor Tony Ferrara himself.
