Former Cal Poly president Robert Kennedy dies
December 27, 2010
Former Cal Poly president Dr. Robert E. Kennedy, 95, died at his San Luis Obispo home on Christmas Day.
Kennedy, whose name adorns the campus library, worked at Cal Poly from 1940 to 1979, serving as president for the last 12 years. He was replaced as president in 1979 by Warren Baker.
As one Cal Poly official told CalCoastNews, “No individual has contributed more to Cal Poly than Bob Kennedy.”
A public memorial service has been scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 15 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in San Luis Obispo.
