Atascadero chamber CEO dies unexpectedly

Joanne Main, veteran chief executive officer of the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce died unexpectedly Tuesday morning.

Main, who joined the chamber in January 2000, was pronounced dead at Twin Cities Hospital in Templeton at 10:30 Tuesday morning.

She had undergone intestinal surgery earlier in January and was recuperating at home. Sources tell CalCoastNews that Main was transported to the hospital Monday night following unknown complications.

Joanne was hard-working, smart and professional. She worked tirelessly to promote her city and try to improve the business climate there. I didn’t always agree with her positions but I found her to be extremely well-spoken, patient and kind.
