Plane crashes in Paso Robles

A pilot was injured after his single engine airplane crashed north of Paso Robles Airport at about 4:20 a.m.on Friday.

The unnamed man was attempting to land a 2010 Piper Malibu Matrix when he crashed during his final approach in a field near Ranchita Canyon and Von Dollen roads. He was taken to an area hospital.

Officials are not releasing the man’s name or the extent of his injuries at this time. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Note to pilots: It is not a good idea to celebrate 4:20 while flying a plane.

That’s OK, there are a LOT of used planes to be picked up on the cheap in the last few years. A friend of mine put in a “silly” bid, ridiculously low, just as a symbol that he was interested. The guy called and sold it to him (this was a 400K plane for less than 150K). Crazy.
