Supervisors OK homeless plan

April 27, 2012

A new county government position has been created to try organizing efforts to help the homeless.[The Tribune]

County supervisors voted this week to create the new job post, with the intention of drafting  a successful plan to deal with San Luis Obispo County’s estimated 4,000 homeless people, half of whom are children.

Recent enforcement policies by San Luis Obispo city have helped create havoc among that population by severely limiting areas where campers, RVs or just automobiles can be parked for sleeping purposes.

Lee Collins, director of the county’s Department of Social Services, said officials were not seeking a “czar” but rather an individual who can help coordinate efforts between a variety of private and public entities which regularly deal with homeless problems.

Jesus said: Mathew 7: 9-10, ” Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone ? Or, if he ask fish, will he give him a serpent ? ”

These ‘least among us’ need a place to SLEEP for cryin’ out loud …not a bunch of dimestore vigilantes rousting them for doing nothing illegal and wasting civic monies at the same time !

Anyone doing something truly illegal should be arrested …not harrassed !

What these people NEED are modest but safe places to stay and rest. This is a universal human necessity and not a perquisite or luxury to be enjoyed by a privileged few OR an apathetic majority.

The Savior also said, Luke 18: 22 ” …Sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have tresure in heaven: and come, follow me “.

James also contributed, James:2 – 17, ” Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone ”

SLO county does not need another high-priced government bureaucrat draining resources and a ‘position’ to draw away attention. ….away from those that should already be doing their jobs .

If the BUSINESSES that call themselves churches are NOT doing what they claim their purpose is, or if they only provide relief and comfort selectivelly, THEN TAX THEM.

This does NOT stop them from practicing their religion. Actually, it forces them to do so !

Lets evenly distribute / relocate some of the slow but growing inbound / new homeless in SLO to Los Osos, Morro Bay, Atascadero, Paso Robles, Templeton, and the Five Cities, everyone should chip in!

willieslo, just so you know, many of the derelicts are already in these places…we don’t like it any more than YOU do…I say, send them back to their “communities of origin”…

Wait a minute, isn’t SLO the nicest place to live? Wouldn’t you think that Cal Poly with all of there open space and faculty and staff that usually have all of the answers to everything would utilize the campus to take care of these people. They grow food, train people to assist the disadvantage-they have everything to get the job done,

NOW where is Adam Hill, he should have all of the answers here.

Remember that parking and staying in an RV is a code violation for the churches, the city could cite them for it and probably would.

The sunny acres property would be great if the county would approve especially if they used the part of the property closest to Mulhulands house.

Sally

Dan Devaul *Sunny Acres” is a down to earth guy

When he was in control of his own property, he would not tolerate Bs, scam artist, or thugs.

He is no longer in control of his own land, it is presently in receivership!

It is left to to whatever that idiot Stew Jenkings can forge it into, he has taken the first step to trashing SLO!

I think the homeless and transient who do not have children can best be helped out by giving them:

Low interest loans for education?

Low interest Master and Visa Credit Cards for necessities?

Community Work Programs so they can pay off their debts!

In the meantime, Attorney Saro Rizzo has an office with a good size parking lot located on Higuera St @ LOVR, he can arrange to let some of the homeless and transient park and set up tent there as well as let them use his rest room facilities?

Attorneys Saro Rizzo and Stew Jenkins can also help give them part time work keeping their parking lot clean and doing some office work or assistance?
