Jon Stevenson

Jon Stevenson, a former Cal Poly volleyball coach who left the campus after being accused of sexual harassment and unprofessional conduct, has died. He was 54. [Tribune]

Stevenson, who lived in Pismo Beach, was found dead Sunday in Van Nuys. The cause of death is currently unknown and will be determined by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

In 2011, Stevenson was dismissed from Cal Poly after a 2010 investigation report became public. In the report, current and former players accused Stevenson of  inappropriate conduct including attempting to “pants” a player, hugging and kissing players in a way that made them feel uncomfortable and making inappropriate sexual comments.

Under Stevenson’s leadership, Cal Poly won the Big West Conference in 2006.

God Bless him and his family. May he rest in peace.

Tragedy…whatever. 54 is WAY too young.

Just so none of you start “speculating” on the cause of death, (many of you are “wannabe” crime scene investigators), Jon had some depression due to his hip pain, however, he WAS NOT nor did he EVER HAVE a history of “suicidal thoughts…Wait for the LA Coroner’s report to be made public..
