Mission Prep athletic director target of anti-gay vandalism

Two acts of vandalism that targeted the gay athletic director of Mission College Preparatory Catholic High School in San Luis Obispo are being investigated as hate crimes. [Tribune]

In April 26, gay athletic director of Mission College Preparatory Catholic High School Bailey Brown discovered someone had slashed her car tires and scratched her car while it was parked outside her Pismo Beach home. A message of hate, “We (heart) r Role Models,” was scrawled on the car.

The cost of the vandalism is estimated at about $3,000.

A month later, officials at Mission Prep discovered school property had been vandalized and comments were left that disparaged the sexual orientation of Brown.

Pismo Beach and San Luis Obispo police departments continue to investigate the alleged hate crimes.

Slowerfaster: I’m sorry but I’m not going to buy into your hateful hyperbole. As I said this is a cowardly, hateful act that cannot be tolerated under any circumstances. However I truly do wonder if this individual does advertise her sexuality or if the culprits are simply guessing as it does make a difference.


No individual who openly advertises their homosexuality should be allowed on the faculty or staff of a Catholic high school. Having a same sex attraction is one thing. Advertising one’s homosexuality equates to approval of living the homosexual lifestyle which runs contrary to Catholic Christian teachings.


School administrators have a responsibility to ensure that message does not come from faculty and staff, both for the students’ well being and for those who have been chosen to educate them.

What do you mean by “advertising”? Are you asking if this teacher wears a sign saying, “I am homosexual”? Does she buy space in the Trib, here on CCN, local billboards, etc. announcing her sexual preferences? Is that what you mean? Or are you asking if she intentionally hides/disguises/lies about her orientation (or implying that she should)? People wouldn’t think twice if a heterosexual male teacher said something like, “My girlfriend and I visited the Colisium…” If a lesbien teacher said, “My girlfriend and I visted the Colisium….” is that “advertising”????

OK, I’ll bite. How about if this person had a picture of herself and another female she described to others as her “partner” on her desk at MCP? As the athletic director how about if she attended games and awards dinners with another woman she introduced to others as her “partner?” How about in general conversation if she felt the need to mention her female partner?


Like it not if something a long these lines is taking place, it will lead to legitimate problems that will need to be dealt with. That sort of behavior in that sort of setting is unacceptable.

Your child like circular reasoning is assuming as a premise, the conclusion in which you wish to reach, to support your otherwise WEAK ASSERTIONS to try in vain to protect this alleged Christian school! You don’t have enough sense to feel embarrassed. :(


The irony is that you’re accusing jackbnimble of misdirecting the dialog, when in fact, you’re using one of the oldest ruses in the book by throwing a red-herring into the conversation. It’s a pseudo-christian ploy that is used to take the conversation away from the actual reported facts that go against Mission Prep.

Because of your ungodly Devil Speak on this story, you are no more a Christian than Osama Bin Laden. I suggest that you turn in your Judeo-Christian bible post haste to a local church so that it could be given to someone that is worthy of the faith.

“Colorado Face Fake Hate Crime Charges” May 19, 2012 from KDVR


A lesbian couple who claimed they were victims of a hate crime have been arrested after police determined they staged the incidents.


On Oct. 28, Aimee Whitchurch, 37, and Christel Conklin, 29, called police and reported the words “Kill the Gay” were scrawled in red spray paint on the garage door of their Parker, Colo., home.


The next day, the couple told deputies they found a noose hanging on the handle of their front door


Both women are charged with criminal mischief and false reporting.


Just google “fake hate crimes” and you’ll see that yeah, unfortunately some of these incidents have been staged. Not saying this Mission Prep case is bogus or anything; I’m just answering cynical’s post.

While you’re Googling, look up “Religious Hate Crimes against Gays” and you’ll be perusing the internet for years! Read your bible for a change and you’ll understand why this gay hate crime more than likely happened as stated. This is of course, barring the hatred against gays at the pulpits across Amercia, notwithstanding, the far right radio and television shows!

What the hell do you expect from a Christian religious school if they actually READ their bibles with a discerning eye in the fact that if the Hebrew-Christian God is violently against gays, they should be too?!

Whenever any Christian promotes the hatred of gays because of biblical teachings, and how can they not be if they actually followed God’s LITERAL AND UN-INTERPRETED scripture against the gays, they must assume responsibility for creating an environment that promotes the brutal violence towards the gay community, period!


Barring the gay hatred that is spewed forth from the pulpits of America, enter the extreme religious right fools of Faux News, such as Pat Buchanon, Liz Trotta, Sean Hannity, et al, that all promote gay hate and bigotry! This “feeds” a certain factions low IQ levels, and their godly agendas against the gay community. Subsequently, you have actions as described in this story.


The complete irony is, that the remarks against the gay community are from the Christian Right who are allegedly the leaders of moral virtue. What a joke!

This is a cowardly, hateful act that cannot be tolerated under any circumstances. That said does the victim advertise her sexuality in her workplace or are the criminals simply guessing? If she does advertise her sexuality on campus then that too should not be tolerated as MCP is a Catholic Christian institution.

Hello ? Are there teachers there that “advertise” their orientation by wearing a wedding ring ? Or have pictures of spouses and/or children on their desks ?
