Fire burns at Pismo Beach campground
July 16, 2013
A fire caused the California State Park Pismo Beach Campground to be evacuated Monday afternoon.
Around 3:30 p.m. Monday, vegetation caught on fire and four acres burned near the entrance to the Oceano Dunes. The fire threatened several structures, but did not burn any. Campers at the state park evacuated safely.
Eighty-three firefighters battled the blaze from the ground and air.
Cal Fire says the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but human activity probably caused the fire.
A total of five fires broke out in San Luis Obispo County Monday.
