Police give up after more than 2 hour standoff

carAfter a two and a half hour standoff complete with road closures, Santa Maria police gave up and left the scene. [KCOY]

Friday at about 9 p.m., police responded to a 911 call from a woman who said her grandson had pepper sprayed her.

Officers arrived at the 800 block of West Donovan Road, surrounded the home, closed off the street, and then unsuccessfully tried to coax the suspect out of the house. At 12:30 a.m., police gave up and reopened the road.

Police officials decided to send a report of the incident to the district attorney’s office to see if prosecutors want to press charges. If so, there will be a warrant issued for the suspect’s arrest.

Was this before or after the road ranger shot himself in the same situation.

Let’s hope they don’t come back to a dead old lady in the morning.

No details on the incident. No interviews with authorities. No suspect name. No reason given for why this should even be a published story.

Very fine “reporting” from a goofball website.

Could it have been “fine reporting” from a police department PR person? as well as “fine police work” from the police department?

What about the linked KCOY article? Is it also a goofball television station?

You’re a real winner, eh?

Finally.. someone with a level head figured out that the only thing they were going to do was make a bad situation worse, and that the best they could do would be to back off and take a different approach. They know who the suspect is, and they know where he lives… so no point in getting ridiculous.

Can’t wait till the next time he replaces the pepper spray with a baseball bat or other weapons, hopefully not a gun. Maybe you can hang out with this up standing citizen.
