Body of missing Nipomo woman found in Avila Beach
February 11, 2014
San Luis Obispo County sheriff’s deputies discovered the body of a missing Nipomo woman lying near an Avila Beach intersection Sunday evening.
Investigators ruled 41-year-old Maria De La Cruz Albarran Uribe’s death a suicide. Uribe had gone missing in late January and witnesses reported that she was suicidal.
On Jan. 31, the sheriff’s office received notice that Uribe had left her car in the Port San Luis Harbor Area. That prompted a joint investigation by the sheriff’s search and rescue unit, the Port San Luis Harbor Patrol and the California Highway Patrol.
The search continued for 10 days until deputies found Uribe’s body around 6 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of San Miguel Street and Avila Beach Drive.
