Beverly House

Hearst Castle is not on the market, but the former Beverly Hills mansion of William Randolph Hearst is. [Bloomberg]

The wealthy newspaper publisher spent the final five years of his life at the Beverly House, a 6-acre mansion situated on a private hill three blocks from Sunset Boulevard. The Beverly House is listed at $135 million.

Hearst moved from his San Simeon castle to the Beverly House in 1946. He died in Beverly Hills in 1951.

The mansion consists of five buildings, 28 bedrooms and 36 bathrooms. It is believed that John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy spent time there during their honeymoon.

The Bevery House is currently owned by attorney Leonard Ross, who has placed it on the market several times in recent years. Ross has listed the former Hearst home at as high a price as $165 million.

Thanks, but no thanks. I will stay here in SLO in my $800,000 house with Partying Poly students on one side and the halfway house on the other. Plus here in SLO, people tell me what color to paint my house and where to put my trash cans.

I hear Katie Litchtig made a bid on it. Her Topanga Canyon mansion is getting a bit cramped AND she’s expecting a salary increase once you sheep vote to re-authorize and extend the Measure Y tax.

Maybe SLO should buy this to use as a homeless shelter, would likely cost us less in the end as long as we continue to have CAPSLO invovled in the shelter

Thanks for the heads up, but I’m waiting for my 6 mos CD to mature and that puts me out of the market. Maybe Slojustice would be interested.
