California mayor shot and killed by wife

The mayor of the Southern California city of Bell Gardens died Tuesday after his wife shot him during a domestic dispute. [LA Times]
Bell Gardens Mayor Daniel Crespo, 45, was arguing with his wife, Levette, in their home Tuesday afternoon when their 19-year-old son intervened. As Crespo was arguing with his son, his wife grabbed a gun and shot him inside the home around 2:30 p.m.
Crespo died en route to the hospital.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s investigators detained Levette Crespo for questioning but released her without making an arrest. Officials have yet to file any charges.
Investigators are presenting all of the evidence to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, which will determine whether to file charges.
