Hit and run driver crashes on Highway 154
March 29, 2015
A 40-year-old man suffered major injuries Saturday night after a series of crashes that ended with his vehicle rolling of the side of Highway 154 about four miles east of Highway 101.
Shortly after 6 p.m., the driver allegedly struck a parked SUV on Yanonali Street in Santa Barbara. While attempting to flee, he rear-ended one vehicle before backing into another.
The suspect then turned onto Garden Street, struck another car and crashed through the median before driving away. Witnesses provided the license plate number to law enforcement who began searching for the driver.
At about 6;30 p.m., the suspect rolled his car, which ended up about 15 feet off Highway 154.
After extracting the driver from his vehicle, emergency personnel transported the driver, suspected of being under the influence, to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. His driver’s name is not being released at this time.
