A 21-year-old Paso Robles man allegedly robbed a driver at gunpoint Monday evening and then punched him in the face.
The incident occurred around 7 p.m. at the intersection of Creston Road and Santa Ynez Road, according to the Paso Robles Police Department. Rafael Aguilar Anguiano, 21, allegedly used a replica pistol BB gun to rob the victim of $50 cash.
Prior to the robbery, the victim was driving his car and noticed he was being followed by a white Chevrolet Camaro, according to a police department press release. The victim stopped at the intersection, and the Camaro stopped next to him.
The victim told police that a passenger in the Camaro pointed a black pistol at him and got out of the car. The suspect demanded money from the victim, who was still sitting in his vehicle.
The victim gave all of his money to the suspect. The suspect then punched the victim in the mouth and fled in the Camaro.
Moments later, a Paso Robles officer located the Camaro as it was leaving a parking lot near Sherwood Road and Creston Road. The officer stopped the vehicle along the 100 block of Santa Ynez Drive.
During a search of the vehicle, officers found a black BB gun pistol, a shotgun, ammunition, a small amount of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
The victim identified Anguiano as the man who robbed him at gunpoint. The victim also identified three other suspects as being in the car during the robbery.
Police arrested all four suspects on charges of robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. One of the suspects, 22-year-old Jose Rodrigo Campos, of Paso Robles, also received charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The two other suspects accused of the robbery are 19-year-old Austin Isaiah Beausoleil, of Atascadero, and 35-year-old Felipe Gutierrez, of rural Paso Robles. Officers booked all of the suspects in San Luis Obispo County Jail.
Paso Robles police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
