Heidi Harmon has won the San Luis Obispo mayor’s seat, beating incumbent Jan Marx by 47 votes, according to unofficial results posted by San Luis Obispo County elections officials Wednesday.

The stunning conclusion to the race comes 15 days after the Nov. 8 election when Marx led by 726 votes, or 52.46 percent to Harmon’s 47.06 percent. While Marx led in early mail in ballots, Harmon led among poll voters and late mail in ballots following several robocalls promoting Harmon for mayor by activist Kevin Rice.

On Wednesday, the San Luis Obispo County Clerk Recorder’s Office finished counting votes for residents of the City of San Luis Obispo.

In another close race, SLO County’s Measure J, a transportation tax initiative, continues to fail by a narrow margin.

As of Wednesday, 65.96 percent of voters had approved the sales tax initiative, and 34.04 percent voted against it. A 66.67 percent vote is required for it to pass and the increase in late voter support is marginal.

Countywide, there are an additional 6,634 more votes to count. The SLO County Clerk Recorder’s Office has scheduled the next ballot counting for Nov. 29.

Everyone should keep a printout of this story in their files to show dumbasses stupid enough to say things like “I’m not voting. My vote won’t count.”

“I’m not voting for *president*. My vote won’t count”.

I basically know nothing about Harmon, but already she’s about 4000x better than Marx.. Glad Marx is gone, anybody is better than her.

4000 X 0=0

Marx however was on the other side of zero on the number line. She was a negative number…

WHAT? No City land GIVEN AWAY to established local crime families? No connected developers buying cheap land restricted by airport safety zones because they could get the safety zones removed and eliminate airport expansion for the purposes of ill-gotten profit outside of free-market competition? Heidi Harmon is SLO’s Donald Trump. DRAIN THE SWAMP.

Yuck!

Do not compare her to the likes of that egomaniac, sexist pig!

Everyone should be madly in love with Heidi! she’ll make your town proud.

Good Marx is gone…but as a side note…the development on Buckley and 227 south if the airport is part of the county, not really up to the city as far as what gets approved to be built there. Almost all the traffic is relief traffic fron 101 being only two lanes through Pismo and to affordable housing in Santa Maria because we do not want to enopcourage cars by having decent roads.

They are looking to annex, so the City does have control over its approval.

The land along Buckley Road — “Avila Ranch” — is already annexed, so this most certainly IS city business, not county. They did this while we were all not paying attention and the news media not reporting the news.

Well, I’ll be darned, you’re right. Looks like it was annexed back in 2008. I guess the only reason we don’t already have over 700 homes out there is because the economy tanked shortly after they annexed.

I believe that change is a good thing in this case. Hopefully we’ll see closer adherence to existing building codes when projects with insufficient parking come to the council for review in the future.

I also hope this is the beginning of rolling back some of the onerous rules/laws that now impinge upon hikers who want to hike taxpayer-owned hills in the dark to watch/photograph/experience sun rises and sunsets.

There are also plenty of us responsible “leave no traces” hikers that would love to camp on the same hills we once did in earlier times — nocturnal animals or not.

HOORAY!!

Note to the Copeland’s and Gary Grossman; NO amount of money will buy off this mayor to give away City land or build on cheap land that other developers passed on because it was in the airport safety zone and they were too honest to play your game. But they’ve already got that from Marx.

Ladies & Gentlemen,

Marxism has, once again, been rejected.

I agree with the woman who has been there, it is time to drain the swamp, and that begins with our own corrupt politicians, it just had to be done.

The elites in the Democratic sold out a lot of decent Americans, and prioritized building a middle class in Asia over sustaining one here.

Te quality-of-life for taxpaying residents ought to be the main priority, and Ms. Heidi Harmon owes Mr. Kevin Rice a heartfelt thank you.

Just saying,

Mr. Josey Wales

Too bad the folks in Atascadero weren’t listening.

Heidi owes Kevin Rice nothing. There is zero evidence he made a difference. Marx did herself in by repeatedly voting against resident interests and for development interests. Her 22 Chorro vote was the final straw — cost her several hundred votes. She did it to herself. Heidi was the “not Marx” vote. If Marx hadn’t thrown dirt in her core’s faces, she’d still be mayor. But they deserted her after just having been subjected to too much disrespect. This is a residents’ revolt, not a Rice revolution.

That 22 Chorro scam should be litigated…

huge congratulations! lichtig is shivering in her boots – please end her corrupt regime! maybe morro bay will get a clue in 2018 what to do – get rid of the mayor!
