A surfer who was participating in a competition in Morro Bay allegedly assaulted an elderly woman on Saturday while under the influence of drugs.

At about 1 p.m., Brian Robert Sprinkle, 39, of La Jolla exited the water near the Morro Rock parking lot, and without provocation allegedly knocked the elderly woman to the ground, according to the Morro Bay Police Department. Numerous bystanders witnessed the attack and intervened to help the woman, who suffered moderate injuries.

Officers arrived and arrested Sprinkle on charges of battery and elder abuse. Additionally, police located and seized a firearm that Sprinkle possessed.

Investigators believe Sprinkle was under the influence of marijuana and hallucinogenic drugs.

I can tell you that this bonehead didn’t place in the contest, which is called the Big, Bad & Ugly, apparently for good reason

Yes, it was the weed … not the hallucinogens that made the guy flip out. Everyone behaves like saints on magic mushrooms and LSD but throw in a little weed and watch out, reefer madness is set loose on the community.

I thought weed was all about mellowing out and expanding your sense of wellness.

At least that is the message I see on the Perfect Union billboards advertising weed that are along the highway. Four young, attractive, hip people enjoying life to the fullest.

Kind of like cigarette advertisements from the old days before we figured out cigarettes weren’t good for you or booze advertisements before we figured out that wasn’t too bueno either.

I thought it wasn’t a gateway drug

I’ve heard of mind expanding drugs but I didn’t believe it actually works. It looks like he has doubled his mind.

Poor lady. What a crappy way to end an outing to the beach.

The City Council wanted “Cannabis Tourism.” Maybe not such a great idea?

When taking a surfboard out into the ocean / waves is not stimulating enough.
