San Luis Obispo County reported nine new COVID-19 deaths on Friday, and a decline in new cases from a daily average of 73 on Tuesday to 71 on Friday.

The SLO County Public Health Department opened a new no-cost COVID-19 testing site in Morro Bay this week. SLO County testing sites now include 209 Surf Street in Morro Bay, 1336 Ramona Avenue in Grover Beach, 801 Grand Avenue in San Luis Obispo and 800 Pine Street in Paso Robles.

During the past three days, 243 SLO County residents tested positive for the coronavirus. Paso Robles leads with 72 new cases, followed by San Luis Obispo with 30, Atascadero with 25 and Arroyo Grande with 23.

Since June 15, SLO County residents who are not fully vaccinated have made up 76.9% of new case, 85.5% of hospitalizations and 79% of deaths.

The number of SLO County residents in hospitals receiving treatment for the virus remains level with 33 currently hospitalized, eight in intensive care.

As of Friday afternoon, 27,757 people in SLO County have tested positive for the virus and 324 have died.

There have been 4,585,203 positive cases, and 68,560 deaths in California.

More than 43,610,449 U.S. residents have tested positive for the virus, and 704,548 have died.

In addition, the number of people infected with the virus worldwide continues to increase: 231,781,273 cases with 4,749,312 dead.

86% of Democrats are fully vaccinated in the U.S. while only 60% of Republicans have gotten the shots. Republicans are also more likely not to believe in climate change or evolution. And some even believe that Hillary Clinton eats children for breakfast.

Come on man, you’re being silly

Actually the “Frazzledrip” conspiracy theory (once promoted by Marjorie Taylor Greene) does basically allude to Hillary Clinton mutilating and/or drinking the blood of children. So while Trask might come off as sarcastic in tone, he’s actually speaking truth.

I think it is the term “vaccine” and how we use it in language and conversation. I received the smallpox, polio and measles vaccines and never contracted those diseases because of my immunity.

I received a flu SHOT and later I got the flu, because the scientists guessed wrong about which flu strain would be the predominant strain that year.

The way we use these terms infers that vaccines and “shots” are different things (even though they are the same) with vaccines conferring total immunity and “shots” being less effective.

Call it the Covid shot and talk about how it is simply another flu shot for the Covid strain which may or may not be totally effective in preventing illness or death.

This may eliminate the surprise or shock of reported breakthrough cases and maybe get unvaccinated folks to thinking “well hell, if it’s just a flu shot I’ll get it when I get my other flu shot.”

Stop talking about it as if it is only second to Dr. Salk’s Polio vaccine, on the list of greatest medical miracles of all times.

Out of the 324 people who have died, 68 were fully vaccinated. I’m vaccinated but I also recall the mantra that chances of dying after vaccination are very rare. 68 people in our county isn’t “very rare” I get the co morbidity cases but 21% of the deaths are fully vaccinated is alarming.

21% of those who have died since June 15th not overall. 51 people have died since June 15th which would be 11 vaccinated and 40 unvaccinated. You can find this information at emergency slo.org.

My spouse’s high school friend got vaccinated and then wen to a super spreader event three days later and then flew to see her family on the same day. So yes she was vaxxed but she did not give the vaccine time to kick in. She died of Covid.

I question if the 68 were exposed and then got the vaccine, or did not allow the vaccine take full effect. It takes 14 days after the vaccination for it to fully kick in.

We are going to get our booster on Tuesday, September 28th. October 12th is when the protection will be in place.

Good point. When I received the Moderna vaccine the pharmacist told me it was two weeks before a person got ANY protection at all. He went on to say to say the full efficacy (94 per etc.) takes at least 30 days after the 2nd injection.

Also, according to CDC data, 78 percent of people who were ventilated and died in 2020 were clinically obese. My point, a persons overall health and immunological status matters. For a non vaccinated person below the age of 70, with no underlying health issues, your chances of dying from Covid, even with the variant, are less than 5 percent. So as good as the vaccines are, they do NOT offer a guarantee so stay healthy.

I hope those pro masker virtue signalers continue to wear their masks when they drive alone or excercise outdoors , I like to readily identify the idiots in my community.” – Jon Tatro 6/15/2021

Gee Tatro, maybe if you and the rest of the anti-science extremists actually wore masks instead of gleefully judging the responsible people who did, we wouldn’t be having so many cases right now. The matra you should be concerned with is “You will reap what you sow.”

P.S. Your math is all wrong. 68 fully vaccinated people did NOT die of COVID in the county since June 15. There weren’t even 68 TOTAL deaths from COVID since June 15. Try again.

I ended up having to get monoclonal antibodies. I was lucky that there are noncorporate docs still out there.

Why place a test center in the city with the fewest new cases?….so positive people seeking a test can come to town and infect the citizens of Morro Bay?….

Probably because they did the same thing to those poor folks that was done to me by the ER, family doc, and CHC, go home and come back when your blood O2 is under 90.

Been close 2 to 4 times, depending on how to measure, came away with GRATITUDE to the creator for my spouse, my children and grandchildren. You want proof of the Almighty? We are lucky my friend.

Pray for the ignorant. 29.2% of vaccine eligible in this county is “stained britches feared”, completely unvaxxed … barrel of hair style

Correction 29.4% … The percent of SLO County residents 12 and older who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19.

If you were sick enough they would’ve admitted you. Don’t blame our healthcare workers for their deaths.
