OPINION by CONGRESSMAN SALUD CARBAJAL

The Trump administration’s decision to attack Venezuela was a reckless and deeply destabilizing action. Launching unilateral military strikes and seizing Maduro without a clear plan for what comes next risks creating a dangerous power vacuum — one that could plunge the entire region into chaos and endanger countless lives.

Today’s military action undermines the United State’s global standing and weakens the international rules-based order our country helped build decades ago. Maduro is an illegitimate leader, but these actions risk pulling our nation into yet another open-ended conflict at a time when the American people are demanding an end to forever wars abroad.

At the same time, these actions do nothing to put the interests of the American people first and fail to address our current cost-of-living crisis.

The Trump administration must immediately brief Congress on today’s strikes and its plans for the region. I also call on Speaker Johnson and other congressional Republican leaders to reassert Congress’s oversight and war-making authority. The American people deserve answers immediately.

While I agree with the idea that Congress should have been briefed on this operation, I actually applaud this action. Maduro was illegitimate, as the Congressman points out, and Russian and Chinese influences in Venezuela needed to be eliminated. It was an audacious and brilliant military move, though not surprising considering our capabilities


I just hope the administration has worked out its long range goals. It seems that keeping Rodriguez is a smart move for now (in Iraq, it was a huge mistake to take out the entire government). But new elections will certainly need to be called in the near future and the Venezuelan people should have some say in what happens to their resources. I hope Trump and the oil oligarchs aren’t planning on simply raping that nation and leaving it in chaos.

The useful idiots of the Demshevik Party were protesting “No Kings” and “No Dictator” at their astroturf protests in November and two months later they are wailing, crying and protesting when a real illegitimate “president”/dictator is removed from power to face justice. A real dictator who destroyed a prosperous country, embraced narcoterrorism as foreign policy, imprisoned and tortured his enemies and caused 9 million of his citizens to seek safety as exiles in dozens of other countries. Meanwhile those 9 million ex pat Venezuelans are exuberant in celebrating and praising President Trump, exhilarated and hopeful that their beloved country may soon see liberty, freedom, justice, legitimate government and prosperity restored.

I read the regrettable Salud’s irrelevant comments, and my mind goes to the movie This Is Spinal Tap, when the band hears their song on the radio and is elated, then the DJ says that “…they’re in the ‘where are they now file’…” when they’re literally in town to play a gig. LMAO. The only thing more sad than our Representative’s lack of substance is the fact that he keeps getting reelected to his seat. I guess H.L. Mencken was right after all….

Of course not. Democrats only enable and apologize for criminals and criminal cartels (and dictators of narco states). It’s in their self-interest. The Democrat Party is perhaps the largest and most corrupt criminal cabal on the planet. Corruption is systemic within the Plantation Party and their income & political power is inextricably linked to profits from other criminal enterprises including those involving illicit drugs.

For oil? Venezuela currently produces about 1% of global consumption. Not a big player currently.

My bet this is also pushback on the BRICS aligned nations . Guess we’ll see…
