SLO County businesses and students join ICE out protest

Outrage over a second fatal shooting by an immigration officer in Minneapolis led to a “national shutdown” across the country on Friday, including San Luis Obispo County.

Organizers asked people not to attend work, school or purchase items in protest of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Across SLO County, businesses such as Corazon Cafe and Len Cellective in SLO closed their doors on Friday.

To show support, some businesses, such as General Store in Paso Robles, posted plans on Facebook to donate some of their profits to 805 UndocuFund to “support local immigrant families and neighbors.”

In addition, hundreds of students at county high schools and Cal Poly University walked out of classes to show solidarity with the undocumented immigrant community.

Protest all you want – that’s a great American right. But if you impede or brawl with authorities, or other citizens going about their business, you should be dispersed or arrested. Do I understand this correctly, teachers and or administrators who don’t understand they are there to teach and not pass along their political beliefs said to students go ahead leave school to show your support for my cause, guessing they really had to twist students arms to get out of class early and have a extra long weekend. Anytime I could get a day off during school I took it for whatever reason, and since teachers and administrators were getting paid weather they taught or not, its not really saying much. Now if they took a weekend or other already day off to meet at school or else where to show support for something maybe that would mean something but as it was it really doesn’t mean much.

In SLO, with many hundreds of businesses available every day of the week…. only 15 were found to be ridiculously ignorant enough to close in solidarity with the leftist lies.

Forgive my insensitivity, but I would understand this if they were grabbing everybody at the Nipomo Swap Meet or picking everyone up at a farm or school, but so far this seems to be targeting criminals who are here illegally.

Activists seem to be inflamed by some outside, central source .

Could this whole dust-up just be a distraction, while the looting of our assets and freedoms continue?

You think? Distracting from an absolute shit show of an administration? Seen the new Epstein documents released? If I was a pedophile and president trying to distract the masses would seem like a good idea? Arrest journalists, take ballots and invading another country seem like plausible reasons for a presidential distraction. So, putting masked and armed agents on the streets is going to punish financial fraud? The youth are always correct regarding things like this. They were correct on civil rights, the Vietnam war, Nixon, Iran contra, Iraq war. When our youth protest, it’s because they know better than the adults. Every time.

According to the Trib, about 300 total from both Cal Poly SLO and Cal Poly Pomona decided to be a little more stupid for a day. The Trib also noted, that “around 200” From SLO High, and maybe a couple dozen from AG High (according to the photo in the article) also skipped school.


Between all 4 campuses, the enrollment reaches at least 50,000 students. But only a little over 500 decided that being ignorant, was more important than getting smarter.
