Mud slides shut down portion of Highway 1

Highway 1 is closed from Ragged Point near the Monterey and San Luis Obispo coujnty lines to Big Sur because of mud and rock slides.
Caltrans reports multiple mud slides throughout the 42 mile stretch. Crews are on site assessing the damage.
At this time, there is no estimated time for the highway reopening.
Highways 68, 101 and 46 can be used as alternate routes to Big Sur and Ragged Point.
