$133 million jackpot winning ticket purchased in Morro Bay

August 28, 2010

The unknown winner of last night’s $133 million California lotto jackpot purchased the winning ticket at Bottle Liquor on Main Street in Morro Bay. [KSBY]

The sole winner has not yet laid claim to the winnings. He or she successfully matched the winning combination of 4, 10, 26, 32, 41 and MEGA number 31.

Jackpot winners have 365 days from the date of the draw to claim their prize money

The owners of Main Street Liquor are slated to receive a bonus of $665,000 for selling the jackpot ticket.

Really, does it matter if the man pays taxes on 92 million dollars—? Maybe Gov. Swartz. will stop attacking poor, impoverished children now. And about the schools, the good thing is that Bottle Liquor is owned by the husband of a super-great kindergarten teacher–so I am really happy for them as I am sure they deserve and will enjoy the portion.

As a neighbor of the winner, I keep staring out the window and wishing they gave me a million dollars, even though I’ve never talked to them. It’s quite a distraction. However, a friend of mine just got diagnosed with only months to live, and I cant help but think about how her husband of over thirty years would feel winning the lotto.

I suppose we should count our blessings, because life is a funny thing.

Winner is known. Morro Bay local.

Woo Hoo, They just kept selling me bum tickets and finally it hits the big one just like it’s supposta.

Well It’s going to be hard to buy my town a Sewer, even with that much, so I’m just going to purchase every contiguous empty lot till the market over-responds, and see what’s left.

And no, you can’t have any – Buy your own ticket, Sal Sipuedes.

I hear you can still get them for a dollar..

Alon, are you saying you are the winner? You have aleays been very active in LO politics. It should be interesting to see if people suddenly start agreeing with you more for some strange reason. Don’t leave LO now, I think a suddenly rich and powerful Alon Perlman will be fun to watch. Wo! Ho! to you

Bro, now make some BiIG waves.

Power is in the eye of the beholder.

It wouldn’t be all that strange. In fact the appeal of money would make anyone sound more intelligent even if the money was lucked in, rather than earned.

Separate than; people attaching themselves to lottery winners.

Some people agree with me some don’t. Abraham Lincoln figured Los Osos out before I did (You can fool some…)

So Actually No, and I DID imply that I did.

But I would take care that; had I won it- I would make sure that it remained a secret for as long as possible. There is a lot of evidence that a good portion of the people who came into large lottery earnings did not do well

I have scientific training, so it is a little sobering to think that 1,2,3,4,5 and 6

have the same chance of winning as the wining numbers in the article. (slightly more complicated because the MEGA number is selected separate).

It is also as statistically likely that the lottery will hit twice at one location as it is that it will hit a specific favorite location.

Knowing that, and knowing that the news media will inform us if a big one hits. I don’t bother checking the numbers.

I just walk around as if I already have a Hundred million Dollars, unclaimed winning ticket in my wallet. I like my life. I hope I’m a little fun to watch as I am.

Incidentally the article seems WRONG as to 365 days to claim. It’s 180 days

So I will be refreshing my fantasy at the price of 2 dollars a year.

Still it would be a nice fantasy to save the character of this special place. So I’ll have to stay untill the sewer bills hit and do it the old fashioned way.

Good luck to you JustYou and good luck to us all.

And how much is going to the schools?

What’s even more important then mere money, is the message and lessons this is teaching our youth.

E.G. Entitlement isn’t free. Sometimes you have to spend your mom’s last buck.

Congratulations! Thank God you won it in Morro Bay and not SLO or they would be charging you a Business Tax and taxing you on this extra income.
