Embattled planning commissioner to step down

UPDATE: On Monday morning, supervisor Frank Mecham sent out a press release, accepting the resignation of Bruce White from the county planning commission.

Mecham is nominating Adelaida rancher and realtor Jim Irving to replace White.

Supervisor Frank Mecham is slated to make an announcement about White’s resignation on Monday.

In an exclusive, CalCoastNews reported that White had broken several laws related to building and planning issues.

White partnered with former North County developer Kelly Gearhart to build 18 two-bedroom “efficiency houses” on three small streets off of Traffic Way east of U.S. Highway 101. White and Gearhart agreed to build three low-cost housing units in exchange for a high density bonus.

In 1998, White purchased one of the low cost housing units from Gearhart and moved his fiancée into the home.

In 2003, White sold the home at 5900 Teresa Street for $297,926, even though, according to the low-cost housing agreement, it should have had a maximum sales price of $166,240.

A few months before he sold the home, White tore out the firewall between the home and the garage – a health and safety code violation – and added a closet. The changes transformed the den into a third bedroom, all without getting the required permits.

The planning commission’s primary function is to study proposed developments and to make sure projects comply with the county’s zoning regulations and general plan.

Each of the five county supervisors appoints one planning commissioner with the board as a whole having final approval. Mecham appointed White two years ago.

District 2 Planning Commissioner Anne Wyatt also resigned from the board. Cal Poly professor Ken Topping is expected to be her replacement.

Recently elected supervisor Paul Teixeira has not yet announced who he will select to replace outgoing 4th District Commissioner Gene Mehlschau.

And the next batter up, A Real Estate Broker with a gentleman’s ranch, How’s that suit ya SLO?

Now:

1) Make sure he doesnt get retirement from the county…or a bonus for leaving or other payouts from Pavvo Ogren or Bruce Gibson

2) Put him in jail. He is a criminal and an immoral piece of pondscum. He bilked us for money to build homes for the underprivilieged and then gave one to his mistress and then sold it for a profit.

A man’s work record follows him a long way, if he is connected to Gearhart he better resign than get removed!

Right you are, willie. And congratulations to CCN for pulling the string that should unravel the lies and corruption, leading, one hopes, to justice. While White can resign,he cannot untell the tale of his wrongdoings.

They are all connected even with law enforcement often transfering property back and forth to shelter it and scratch eachother’s backs for illegal approvals on fradulent development schemes. I can think think of a few in the last several years where a planning commissioner voted to overturn denial for his co-worker’s extremely controversial and ill conceived sprawl project without water. They both sit on the board of a local bank.Suprise he was the swing vote for them!

The donations from this development group and their family and associates-the good ol boy network, totaled over over 250.000 to unseat a supervisor who might make them follow the building codes and general plan. Good ol Boronado right in there too.Flush out the minions!~

mancha, This is all very interesting but if you don’t name the project’s that you refer to, how do you expect anybody to even begin to do anything about it or even take a stab at looking into it? I don’t mean to be rude but the saying : “Put Up or Shut Up” is at times, an appropriate comment.

It’s been looked into…long paid off and sold out-permitted and now in a lawsuit for it’s illegalities.Public pays…and now the supe is off to the assembly leaving his gift to his friends…not being rude either, but think hard….

I think Cindy is just looking for a couple of facts — otherwise your post smacks of rumor and innuendo.

Who’s $260,000? Who are the minions? What are you talking about? It kinda seems like maybe a little smear attempt for a candidate you did not support? Or is it multiple candidates? Did they win or lose? Was there anything illegal, or did they simply make you unhappy?

I like talking trash as much as the next guy, but let’s hear some facts … … …

Kudos to CCN for bringing this to the light of day, right again! Send in some donations folks, to keep at least ONE valid form of impartial news available to us.

Crimes that Gearhart, Mckinney, White, Jones and the rest befits few and ruins the lives of hundreds and even thousands.

Very sad news breaking on the internet, Notice the last sentence that says his wife and kids had to change their last name:

(Dec. 11) – Exactly two years after his father’s arrest, the eldest son of convicted Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff was found dead this morning, his body hanging from a dog leash on a pipe in his living room ceiling as his own young son slept in the next room, according to reports.

“Mark Madoff took his own life today. This is a terrible and unnecessary tragedy,” said Martin Flumenbaum, an attorney representing Mark and his brother Andrew. “Mark was an innocent victim of his father’s monstrous crime who succumbed to two years of unrelenting pressure from false accusations and innuendo.”

Mark Madoff, 46, was under investigation about his possible involvement in his father’s multi-billion dollar fraud, but had never faced any criminal charges.

In February, Mark Madoff’s wife petitioned to change her last name, citing death threats against her family.

I don’t believe his attorney for a second.

I do believe he was a circumstantial factor in his father’s business and in dubious denial of guilt.

I would NOT abandon my 2 year baby and commit suicide if I was guilty as hell!

I would give up my life before I allow anything to scar or harm my child!

Suicide is an escape!

Guilty or not suicide is always bad. And it is not an escape.

What is this? A repeat of what happened in the City of Bell?

I am impressed with this guy. It looks like he has the presence of mind to resign so he can spend the last holidays with friends and family before he is hauled off to prison-or before he flees to one of the borders.

Thanks for the no service-no thanks for bankrupting hundreds of families.

Ahhh…..the good ole boy network at its finest. When will somebody step up and prosecute these schmucks like the rest of the working class would be if found to be involved in this type of blatant thievery.
