Cuesta College remains on probation
February 4, 2011
Though noting that some progress has been made, the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) has decided that Cuesta College will remain on probation status.
The ACCJC announced its decision in a letter sent this week to Cuesta president, Dr. Gil Stork.
“Although I am extremely disappointed with the Commission’s action, it is consistent with the visiting team report that we have not completely ‘fixed’ some deficiencies that were identified by the previous teams,” said Stork in a prepared statement.
There are still four major issues the college must address before Oct. 15, 2011 to be removed from the probation list. A campus visit from the ACCJC is expected that following November before the commission meets in January 2012 to re-evaluate the college’s status.
Cuesta College remains an accredited institution throughout the process and credits earned at the school are transferable to other four-year colleges and universities.
