A prime suspect in the August 22 motel stabbing death of a 55-year-old Paso Robles resident was arrested by police Thursday, along with a female companion. A third man thought by officers to be involved also sits in the San Luis Obispo County Jail.
All have been charged with murder.
Investigators said they tracked Alfonso “Pancho” Fierros, 32, and Jennifer Velten, 29, both of Paso Robles, to a ranch on Bryson-Hysperia Road in Bradley. Authorities reported the pair had been hiding at the 80-acre ranch for “several days.”
They surrendered to police about noon after an extensive search had been conducted.
Earlier, on Tuesday, John Wesley Barrett, 41,was taken into custody at his Atascadero home in connection with the slaying after he was interrogated. Barrett is believed to have assisted with planning and helping carry out the murder.
The victim, reportedly a maintenance employee of the Farmhouse Motel, was found in a room there at 4:30 p.m. Monday, stabbed multiple times in the torso. Police said the yet-unidentified man had been dead for more than 12 hours, and believe drugs may have been a motive for the crime, according to reports.
